When someone is employed for employment in the United States, their identification and employment authorization are verified using Form I-9. Each person a U.S. employer hires for employment in the country must have their Form I-9 properly completed. Both citizens and noncitizens fall under this. The form must be filled out by both employers (or authorised employers’ representatives) and employees. An employee must certify their employment authorisation on the form. The employee must also provide valid identification and employment authorization documents to the company.
