Route Description:

  1. Srinagar to Sonamarg (Base Camp):

  2. Sonamarg to Nichnai:

    • The trail ascends through lush green meadows and dense forests of maple and pine trees. Nichnai, also known as Vishansar, is a beautiful campsite beside a stream.
  3. Nichnai to Vishansar Lake:

    • You ascend further to Vishansar Lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The lake is known for its clear blue waters and offers stunning reflections of the surrounding mountains.
  4. Vishansar Lake to Gadsar Pass:

    • Crossing Gadsar Pass involves a steep climb but rewards you with panoramic views of the Gadsar Lake and the surrounding valleys.
  5. Gadsar to Satsar Lakes:

    • The trail passes through meadows dotted with wildflowers and several smaller lakes known as the Satsar Lakes.
  6. Satsar Lakes to Gangbal Lake:

    • Trekking through rocky terrain and alpine meadows, you reach Gangbal Lake, the largest of the lakes on this trek. It is known for its pristine waters and views of Mount Harmukh.
  7. Gangbal Lake to Naranag:

    • Descending from Gangbal, the trail leads to Naranag, an ancient village with historical significance and a base for many treks in the region.
