AC servo motors generate a rotating magnetic field through two-phase windings (excitation winding and control winding) on the stator. When the control winding current is out of phase with the excitation winding current, a rotating magnetic field is formed in the air gap, generating electromagnetic torque and driving the rotor to rotate.
