High Head Dam Fish Passage
High head dams have historically been among the most challenging passage problems in fisheries management. Conventional fish ladders struggle with extreme height because maintaining an effective stepped gradient over a large vertical distance requires enormous water volumes and complex civil structures. Whooshh’s MigratorTube transport system has no height limitation. The same 1 PSI differential air pressure that moves fish over a 10-foot weir moves them over a 300-foot dam. High head dam fish passage is no longer a fundamentally different problem from any other barrier type.
