$965 Million Verdict against Alex Jones

A jury in Connecticut ruled against Alex Jones in the amount of $965,000,000 for his false claims about the Sandy Hook shooting. The verdicts was reached by a six member jury in Waterbury, Connecticut following close to three weeks of testimony. The witnesses testifying in the trial included a Federal Bureau of Investigation first responder as well as relatives of people murdered. These witnesses testified as to the harassment they suffered following Jones’ theories that the shooting was “suspicions” and that victim family members were “actors.”

This verdict is certainly an outlier and likely a result of many elements coming together for the jury. Jones was seen as unapologetic and antagonistic by many. Jones has claimed he will appeal. His company has filed for bankruptcy per reports so the litigation in this matter is likely to continue.
