What is Plywood?Plywood is a sheet material manufactured from thin layers or “plies” of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another. This cross-grained configuration greatly improves the dimensional stability and reduces shrinking, swelling and twisting. Most plywoods consist of an odd number of plies so that the sheet balances out at the center.Types of PlywoodThere are several different types of plywood used for different applications:Structural Plywood or construction grade plywood has thicker plies and is commonly used in construction for load-bearing uses like roof sheathing, sub floors and concrete formwork.
