Rubber Damper

Rubber dampers or shock absorbers are used to reduce the transmission of shocks to the surrounding structure. Since rubber dampers deform under applied shock loads, they can absorb shocks. Rubber dampers (also known as rectangular buffers) are constructed by bonding rubber to a metal plate that has many fixing holes for easy installation.

Why is rubber a good damper?

Because rubber is so elastic, it is able to spring back to its original state immediately after a vibration disturbance. Dampers such as shot stabilizers, dampers (for air conditioners) and rubber damping mats are good for reducing vibrations.
