Getting the fender off past the forks is the trickiest thing to do from here. While the fender can flex and bend somewhat, it still will scrape the forks somewhat as you try to pull it out. If you are not careful, this can scratch the fender itself, although if you are taking it off for good you may not care.
One good way to avoid scratching the fender is to place blue painters tape over the edges where the fender could be scratched. That way the fender itself will be protected in case you ever want to put it back on afterwards.
