Happy Chinese


Happy Chinese is suitable for children and teenagers who are native speakers of English. The course content (topics, Chinese characters, words, grammar, cultural points, etc.) and exercises (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and other language skills training) are set with reference to the Chinese syllabus and examination syllabus for primary and secondary schools in some English-speaking countries. The course has been systematically optimized to meet the needs of basic communication and the characteristics of classroom teaching. This course is suitable for teenagers from overseas who do not have a Chinese language environment, to improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The curriculum is based on the world’s most authoritative “IB curriculum” standards and is benchmarked against the HSK examinations and the International Baccalaureate examinations, and adopts an international education model to achieve mastery of native Chinese.


Happy Chinese Course Contents

Topics: The courses are made up of topics. Each course covers common topics in everyday life, with the higher levels gradually expanding the language content, enriching the forms of expression, and progressing in difficulty.  The course covers a wide range of topics and is progressive upgrading.


Grammar: Through the arrangement of the content of the topics, learners are guided to master the basic forms of Chinese expressions. The dialogues and texts in each lesson are chosen according to the communicative needs of the topic, using key sentence patterns as the theme of the text to highlight the focus of the language training in the lesson. Exercises are also designed to allow students to master some Chinese grammar rules through repeated training.


Pronunciation: The course does not have a phonics component but gradually practices correct pronunciation as you learn words and sentences.


Chinese characters: The basic requirements for this course are to recognize and read Chinese characters and to write some commonly used Chinese characters.


Speech skills training: This course focuses on training students’ speaking skills. The exercises in this course include five basic items: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation.


Happy Chinese Course Features



The target audience is clearly defined as children and young people whose first language is English. Young children will learn common phrases, sentence patterns and Chinese expressions in a variety of Chinese scenarios.




The course has a systematic arrangement and requirements for language items such as topics, Chinese characters, words and grammar, as well as for language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. The course content ranges from personal life and school socialization to life aspirations, mastering practical Chinese while building a positive and confident emotional attitude.




The content becomes progressively more difficult. Focus on the reproducibility of words, sentence patterns, and other content. The meaning is more important than the form. Combining the characteristics of children’s learning, the scientific cognitive method of “deduction, then induction, then deduction” is used to enable children to learn Chinese easily and efficiently.




The content is rich and close to students’ lives. The exercises are varied. Knowledge is easily acquired through a variety of games. The lively and fun curriculum and relaxed classroom will lead to active interaction, independent learning and step-by-step improvement in Chinese language skills.
