Difference between Rapid Prototyping and Additive Manufacturing
The difference of parts caused by forming principle
3 D printing service is a type of additive manufacturing prototyping, which works by cutting models into N layers /N multipoints and then building them up layer by layer/bit by bit in order, like building blocks. Therefore, 3 D printing service can effectively process and produce complicated parts, such as hollowed-out parts, while rapid CNC prototyping can hardly process hollowed-out parts and precision parts.
Rapid prototyping CNC machining is a material reduction manufacturing, through the high-speed operation of a variety of tools, according to the programming knife cutting the required parts. Therefore, rapid prototyping CNC machining can only process the rounded Angle, with a certain degree of radian, rapid CNC prototyping can not directly process the inner right Angle , through wire cutting/spark and other processes to achieve. External right Angle CNC machining rapid prototype is no problem. Therefore, parts with an inner right Angle can be considered for 3 D printing service processing and production. About the surface, if the part surface area is more complicated, we will recommended to choose custom 3d prototyping printing, rapid CNC prototyping surface is time-consuming, and if the programming and operating master is not experienced enough, it is easy to leave obvious lines on the parts.
