Bifidobacterium Lactis

Bifidobacterium lactis is the species of Bifidobacterium most commonly used in food products, as it is more robust than other species of Bifidobacterium genus. Amongst other characteristics, B. animalis subsp. lactis exhibits elevated oxygen tolerance, enabling it to survive in a wider range of environments.

Bifidobacterium lactis is one of the most important types. These beneficial bacteria digest dietary fiber, help prevent infection and produce vitamins and other important chemicals. Low counts of Bifidobacteria have been linked to many diseases, and Bifidobacteriasupplements may help treat symptoms of certain diseases.
